Hi Amy, I also teach 5th grade. I love your blog. I checked out some of your links and added some new sites to my class webpage. I haven't added a blog to my webpage yet. I've been worried that I might not have time to update it as often as I should. Do you add the homework every night or do you put it in at the beginning of the week? Does it take you much time to update? I love the idea of posting assignments especially for students who are absent (or forgetful!). You've given me some great ideas. Thanks!
I like to update my blog everyday. This will give me the opportunity to "post-it" somewhere besides my classroom assignment board. I also create a new voicemail message every night with a "Homework Hotline" so parents could also call in to verify what the homework is. But....with every great idea comes a challenge...there is not a way that I could have them skip the homework section if they need to leave a message, so they would have to wait for awhile to leave the message on my phone. So I am gradually stopping leaving the voicemail and starting to post it other places. ex...blog and wiki.

I am looking to utilize my wiki in a much similar way to yourself, at least initially. I like the simplicity of your layout, as I think this will be very student friendly. Do you see yourself utilizing your blog to the same extent once you have the wiki as organized as you would like? I am also considering putting together a blog, but need to do some more checking as to its usefulness as opposed to a wiki.

Tim...after I get the hang of this wiki business, I will try to utilize it more. I am having a lot of trouble placing links on the wiki. I think it maybe just me though! I really like blogger.com as my blog site. I see it is very user friendly. Let me know if you would like help setting up one. I can give you a great link for really cool backgrounds!
